This topic describes how you go about inserting or importing subtitles from other documents into the current file.  There are several ways you can do this:

 

 

In each case you start with an open Wincaps Q4 target file into which the subtitles will be imported or inserted from a source file that you will select.  Certain properties of the target file (e.g. Timing Rules settings) will never be modified by the import process.  Other properties (e.g. personality, default positions) may be modified by the choices you make in the Import Wizard.  An Insert or Overwrite operation will never modify any of the target file's properties.

 

You can also create a new Wincaps W32 file by opening a third party file using File>Open. This is similar to Import option above that imports the thrid party file into a p[previously opened W32, but the difference is that with File>Open the Wincaps Customer template is not used at all.

Wincaps Q4 allows you to import/inset subtitles from a wide variety of third-party file formats as detailed in the list below.
